Masseria San Gaetano, Guagnano (Province of Lecce)
Masseria San Gaetano is located approximately 20 km north of Lecce and just 2 km from the town of Guagnano, ideally situated between the Ionian and Adriatic Seas.
Built in the 14th century and enclosed by imposing stone walls, the farmhouse stands prominently within the surrounding landscape. The estate lies at the heart of the renowned Negroamaro and Primitivo wine-growing region, an area deeply rooted in Apulian agricultural tradition.
The original structure was a defensive tower from the 1300s. Over the centuries, additional buildings were constructed around a central courtyard, gradually forming the Masseria as it appears today. These additions included a private family chapel, residential quarters for farm workers, and various production buildings used for wine, olive oil, almonds, cherries, citrus fruits, grain, and other agricultural goods.
Today, the estate is surrounded by olive groves, fruit trees, and scattered vegetable gardens. Masseria San Gaetano remains a tangible testament to its historic past while offering the comfort and exclusivity of a refined holiday residence.
